website of the activity
Activity description: The UNL (Universal Networking Language) uses ICT to collect, store, distribute information and knowledge, from one to multiple natural languages. With its set of software, the UNL constitutes a "multilingual infrastructure" that enables communication among peoples across language barriers. It runs over the Internet and other networks, and in standing alone devices. The UNL is a long term Programme that includes continuous development and improving of the UNL linguistic resources and supporting set of software. It includes also setting up a network of UNL language servers through the Internet, which enables peoples worldwide to communicate with each other in their respective language. The UNL has numerous applications, from basic public services, economic activities, educational cultural initiatives in multiethnic societies, to the management of natural disasters and quick dissemination of preventive measures from spreading of pan diseases. Moreover, it facilitates preserving cultural diversity, while enabling communication among peoples of different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
