Daughters of the Pacific is a community group of Christchurch-based Pacific women. The group is particularly interested in issues of culture and identity as they affect Pacific people born in New Zealand.
They: - explore issues of identity and the impact on that identity as Pacific daughters born in Aotearoa
- raise awareness of the changing face of Pacific peoples in Aotearoa
- support Pacific women in their individual and collective aspirations
- celebrate a number of Pacific cultures.
They established a website asa place to share experiences and stories with others. This forum will give the opportunity to create a sense of belonging, validation, cultural understanding and pride. The website aims to provide a link for promoting greater understanding between generations and cultures of these issues.
