UNESCO helps to develop knowledge in specific areas by establishing “chair” positions in educational institutions. A chair is oriented toward two main activities: education and research. In a partnership with Cisco, UNESCO has launched the Latin American chair in Networking Technologies, funded at Universidad de Los Andes in Mérida, Venezuela. The goal of this chair is contribute to having a better understanding and knowledge about networking technologies in the region.
