FCC Activities in the Digital Freedom Initiative in Peru

The FCC is planning an intensive regulatory workshops in 2005 with Peru as part of the U.S. government initiate, the Digital Freedom Initiative. The FCC is crafting the agenda for a 3 day workshop on the margins of the APEC-Tel Min meeting in Spring in Lima, and intends to provide expertise in this event by providing intensive regulator-to-regulator training on competition policy and convergence. Topics will include regulation, Voice over Internet Protocol, emerging technologies, spectrum policy, facilities-based competition, interconnection and universal service. The FCC will also provide expertise speakers to address the larger audience of the ministry, industry, and public in Peru.
