E-Link Americas: Satellite Connectivity Project for Latin America and the Caribbean website of the activity
Activity description:
E-Link Americas is a landmark project aimed at connecting the remote and underserved areas in the Americas using low-cost high-speed Internet. Satellite and terrestrial wireless technologies will be used to deliver affordable, financially viable, Internet access to municipalities, universities, schools, hospitals, telecentres and other community-based organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Existing infrastructure will be leveraged using wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) technology, to extend access to businesses and homes. Incubated at ICA, E-Link Americas is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation supported by Canadian International Development Agency, the World Bank, the OAS, ICA, and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
