Activity: The Modern Asclepieion for Citizen Empowerment (MACE)
website of the activity

Activity description: Modern Asclepieions are new types of the famous Asclepieions of the ancient Greek world where people were flocking for a cure. Asclepieions soon became places promoting health and culture in an integral and harmonious way. In Modern Asclepieions telematic technologies can make reality the concepts of `equity of access` and `citizen empowerment`, while at the same time social interaction and participation can be promoted for the benefit of all. MAs can be organized to provide services of Health and Culture to citizens – to all of them and not to the sick ones only. The services include scientific and societal information provision, health promotion and prevention, education and services related to Culture, Environment and Welfare. These services are in line with the definition of Health of WHO. (The Modern Asclepieions Blog: http://asclepieion.blogspot.com/)
