President's Programme "My First Computer" aims to support teaching and learning by using informational - communication technologies.
As a part of 2008- 2011 programme computers were awarded to 13,500 successful 10th and 11th graders.
In 2010 the Ministry of Education an Science carried out pilot project "Netbooks for every first grader". 3,000 first graders receiver contemporary computers as a gift. Besides the textbooks, educational programmes and other additional literature is uploaded in these computers. The goal of the project is to prepare young people to adapt in 21th century information society.
Based on the results of the pilot project the programme covered all first graders in 2011 and netbooks received 46,000 students and 4,000 teachers.
The Budget increased from 10 million GEL in 2008-2010 to 32 million GEL in 2011. The programme is planned to continue in future.
