| Description de l'activité: |
The sea along the coast of Mauritania (within 200 seamiles) is considered to be one of the most abundant in fish stocks worldwide and has major impact on the country's economic performance (around 50 per cent of export income). A sustainable management of fish and other oceanic resources is crucial for stable basis of Mauritania's economic development. Effective observation of the fishery industry and adequate licensing is a necessity to guarantee an economic preservation of fish and seafood.
The monitoring system of the observation authority should be optimized to enable intervention in order to protect the fish population and to profit from sustainable fishery in the future.
Within the project, the fishery observation authority is equipped with radio technology to gather information on the identification and positioning of ships. Via radar monitoring localised objects can get assigned to fishing licences, so that the missions of observation units can be optimised.
