Wareed |
| Activity description: | Wareed is a project by the Ministry of Health (MOH) that aims at revolutionizing the healthcare system and developing healthcare services with a fully integrated health information system. This initiative stemmed out of recognition by the MOH that Information Technology (IT) is a key driver for improving quality, safety and efficiency of services provided by MOH hospitals, clinics and medical centers. Wareed was initiated to ensure that appropriate systems and infrastructures are in place to support the strategic objective of the Ministry and to enable improved information management through the consolidation and rationalization of the infrastructure and services. To this end, a comprehensive IT review was conducted based on which Wareed was designed to ensure optimal alignment of systems, resources and IT infrastructures and to enable further enhancement of the quality and efficiency of IT service delivery across the entire MOH operations. Wareed is the first project of its scale to be initiated in the region. The project will integrate 15 MOH hospitals, 68 affiliated clinics and 18 other facilities in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Wareed is based on a technological platform that will virtually link all public sector medical facilities across the six Emirates and automate all healthcare processes across Radiology, Pathology, Pharmacy, Surgery, Emergency and Registration departments, supported by high-end data centers and network infrastructure. |
