MADA Qatar Assistive Technology Center |
| Activity description: | Based on a vision of a world with Information and Communication Technology for all (ICT for All), Qatar has launched an Assistive Technology center that strives to connect people with disabilities to the world around them. Mada (Qatar Assistive Technology Centre) will be a Centre of Excellence connecting people with disabilities to ICT as a way of fostering greater equity and empowerment, and creating public awareness around best practices in Assistive Technology (AT). Mada will be a collaborative effort between key ICT industry partners, Disability Service Providers (DSPs), and different governmental bodies. Mada play a leadership role in providing assistive technology solutions, up-to-date information on the latest assistive technologies,and training for people with disabilities, parents, and professionals. Mada will provide impartial expert advice and assessment on best practices in ICT-related Assistive Technology Solutions. Mada will promote innovation in the field of Assistive Technology. At the heart of Mada will be a state-of-the-art Resource Centre, open for all. The Resource Centre in Doha will feature interactive environments for the visually impaired, hearing impaired, learning disabled, intellectually challenged and the mobility impaired, with an information resource library highlighting the latest developments and best practices in the field of Assistive Technology |
