This project is a pilot for the innovative use of digital satellite broadcasts in Nepal, India, Lao (PDR) and Afghanistan.
In coordination with UNDP, the NGO Equal Access developed the Digital Broadcast Initiative (DBI), a flexible, replicable and scalable project methodology and ICT platform to provide information and education to remote communities.
The project uses a range of technologies to achieve the best possible dissemination strategy: satellite broadcasting, AM/FM broadcasts, community outreach and so on.
Based on the three pillars of Content Creation, Information Dissemination and Community Engagement, DBI helps local partners to create customized communication strategies to address problems affecting people in the developing world. By designing and producing compelling local language audio and multimedia programmes in-country, the project is playing a key role in educating target audiences.
