To use ICT to create jobs for the thousands of unemployed educated youth in Kenya, especially young women. website of the activity |
| Activity description: | By starting an International Call Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, our organization is looking at creating an opportunity for the numerous unemployed University graduates, Polytechnic graduates as well as the thousands of “O” level students who have no jobs. 80% of all the employees will be women given that in Africa, women play a great role in development. Our organization is focused on helping Kenya become the next India in the off-shore outsourcing business. This has been made possible by the deregulation of telecommunication in Kenya by allowing VOIP. This development will lead to enhancing the lives of the otherwise able, jobless people who are willing and looking for opportunities to harness their talents while earning a living. Our operations commenced in August 2005 and so far created employment for 54 persons within 6 months of starting. The organization is seeking to employ 600 employees within the next 3yrs. This is also a great opportunity to showcase to the world that Kenya is indeed a stable, profitable and reliable destination for countries looking for off-shore destinations. Job creation is a driving factor in development of any nation. With more people having jobs, it means more people living better and having access to basic human needs. Our new commitment will create a spiral effect that will see more of such opportunities in Kenya and Africa at large opening hence creating a better environment as it lessens unemployment and reduces poverty levels to some extent.
