Task Group on Virtual Laboratories in Earth Physics and Environmental Sciences website of the activity |
| Activity description: | The objectives of this CODATA task group include the 1) development of new mathematical techniques for handling data and their interpretation in terms of knowledge; 2) application of the developed techniques to comprehensive analysis of different types of data, particularly those that relate to the Earth physics and environmental sciences (special attention will be paid to the problem of management, representation and interpretation of very large data sets on Earth's gravity and electromagnetic fields); 3) development of on-line accessible databases on Earth's physical fields, namely gravity, magnetic and electromagnetic fields, geodynamics, seismology and environmental data; 4) creation and maintenance of Web resources devoted to the application of artificial intelligence and modeling techniques developed by the Task Group; and 5)application of those techniques to databases for the creation of knowledge bases. |
