EcoPort, the Consilience Engine: Managing Knowledge as a Global Public Good website of the activity |
| Activity description: | An open-source, proteced knowledge commons under the patronage of Nelson Mandela, Edward O. Wilson and Jacques Diouf (FAO), functioning as a single, central communal database where individuals and institutions voluntarily share information and create knowledge in exchange for gaining free, copyleft access to the sum of all similarly shared knowledge. The imperative, primary focus is on ensuring local control over content generation and validation as the *primary* challenge of bridging the digital divide instead of merely "recognising" (Sic!) the *process* of local control and the need for relevant content as a lower-priority, ancillary objective. NB!: The WSIS does NOT have copyright over this information and may not use or distribute it for commercial gain. It is submitted as a voluntary public contribution.
