C6 WSIS Stocktaking related activities

ITU and UNDP will hold the joint facilitation meeting on action lines C2, C4, and C6, on 19-21 May 2008 in Geneva at: ITU Headquarters, Rooms K1 and K2. This meeting is open to all WSIS stakeholders.

This meeting will be held in conjunction with a cluster of WSIS-related events (13-23 May 2008) surrounding World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (17 May). The focus of this joint meeting was on encouraging discussion on promising approaches and key issues that need to be addressed to facilitate implementation.

This meeting was held in conjunction with a cluster of WSIS-related events (14-25 May 2007) surrounding World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (17 May). In line with paragraph 108 and the Annex of the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society, UNDP, in its capacity of provisional moderator/facilitator, organized the first facilitation meetings on Action Lines 4 and 6, on May 11th May 2006 as follows:

Action line C4, Capacity Building: ITU, Montbrillant building, Room K2, 10h00 - 13h00. This meeting was open to all WSIS stakeholders (Governments and International Organizations, as well as civil society and business entities active in the WSIS-process).

Action line C6, Enabling Environment: ITU, Montbrillant building, Room K2, 15h00 - 18h00. This meeting was open to all WSIS stakeholders (Governments and International Organizations, as well as civil society and business entities active in the WSIS-process).

The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance collaboration and information sharing among diverse stakeholders to contribute to effective multi-stakeholder implementation and tried to identify priority areas for enhanced focus and to explore ideas on how the action line teams might organize their work.
