Anthony Vetro received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York. He joined Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs, Cambridge, MA, in 1996, where he is currently a Group Manager responsible for research and standardization on video coding, as well as work on image processing, information security, sensing technologies, and speech/audio processing. He has contributed to the transfer and development of several technologies to Mitsubishi products, including digital television receivers and displays, surveillance and camera monitoring systems, automotive equipment, as well as satellite imaging systems. He has also been an active member of the ISO/IEC and ITU–T standardization committees on video coding, where he has served as a Chair and Editor for several projects. He currently serves as Head of the U.S. delegation to MPEG.
Dr. Vetro is also active in various IEEE conferences, technical committees, and editorial boards. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON IMAGE PROCESSING, and as a member of the Editorial Boards of IEEE MultiMedia and IEEE JOURNAL ON SELECTED TOPICS IN SIGNAL PROCESSING. He served as Chair of the Technical Committee on Multimedia Signal Processing of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and on the steering committees for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MULTIMEDIA. He served as an Associate Editor for IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR VIDEO TECHNOLOGY (2010-2013) and IEEE Signal Processing Magazine (2006-2007) and, and later served as a member of the Editorial Board (2009-2011). He is a Fellow of IEEE.
