Mr. Wataru Takita is an Executive Research Engineer of NTT DOCOMO, INC., where he develops long and mid-term research strategy and leads various research projects including a network virtualization research for future mobile networks. Wataru joined NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation) in 1991 and engaged in researches and developments of advanced networking and information technology, especially distributed processing, networking architecture, markup language, and network middleware platform. In parallel, Wataru was a visiting researcher of Bell Communications Research (currently, a part of Ericsson), USA from 1996 to 1998, and there he was involved in an international collaboration research project and led a research on a distributed processing environment architecture for telecommunication and information networking system.
Since 2000, Wataru has been with NTT DOCOMO, INC., where he led standardization of mark-up language for 3G mobile terminals at WAP Forum (currently, Open Mobile Alliance), developed nodal systems for 3G mobile networks such as a mobile internet gateway (a part of i-mode system), and also designed and started researches on future mobile networks.
Wataru earned B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Waseda University, Japan in 1989 and 1991, respectively and MBA degree from Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA in 2009. Wataru is a member of IEEE and IEICE, Japan.
