PSJ3 : The Spectrum Struggle in Asia: Technological Convergence Challenges to the Satellite Industry

Mr. Yao Fahai is the Vice-President of China Satellite Communications Co., Ltd. (China Satcom). He is mainly responsible for satellite spectrum management, satellite project construction, satellite ground system facilitate construction, traffic operation and satellite control affairs, project risk management and related technology research.
Yao has held a number of domestic commissioner and management positions in Telecommunications such as member of satellite special committee of China institute of communications, executive director of China Association of Communication Enterprises and so on.
In addition, he won lots of significant national science and technology award, management award and China space found due to his outstanding contributions. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Vice-President of China Direct Broadcast Satellite Co., Ltd (CHINA DBSAT). During this time, he guided the construction of the first direct broadcast satellite program of China and cultivated an experienced and professional team to ensure traffic monitoring and satellite control operation is well implemented in a multi-satellite operating scenario. Previously, he was the Vice-President of China Orient Telecomm Satellite company (China Orient). Under his leadership, the first imported satellite project of China from US was successful constructed and since then the company's business was entered into rapid development phase.
Yao holds a Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from Tianjin University and hold a Master’s degree in digital signal processing of telecommunication in China. Yao is married and his daughter is a college student in China.
