Roy King III is a Senior Partner Marketing Manager for Microsoft Lync. Working in the Skype Enterprise Marketing organization, Mr. King currently leads the team responsible for driving overall strategy and engagement with Lync’s Software, Hardware and Service Provider partners. He personally oversees the relationships with Tier 1 Operators around the world where he is responsible for negotiating the partner’s Go-To-Market plans and product roadmaps. Prior to joining Lync, Mr. King drove long-range business planning across the Office Division including the Office client, Office365, SharePoint, Exchange & Lync while annual revenue grew to over US$20B.
Mr. King was an early innovator in Cloud services, launching multiple Internet-based Communication and Collaboration services since the 1990’s. Serving as a founding executive to build companies from start-up through acquisition or as management consultant to international corporations has enabled millions of people to work more effectively and connect to each other in powerful new ways. As a passionate advocate for the positive social impact of technology, he has worked to bring these innovations to the public sector including serving as co-chairman of the “Government 2.0” working group for the Mayor of Seattle. Mr. King was also the Chief Technology Officer for SmartChange.org, the first revenue-generating charitable organization to operate exclusively over the Internet.
