Mr. Jon Eddy Abdullah was appointed Chief Executive Officer of dtac in March 2011, since when he has helped reposition the company for future growth through a total nationwide upgrade, the launch of 3G services under 850 MHz spectrum and the successful auction of the 2.1 GHz spectrum for 3G and LTE services.
He is currently working on new mobile services businesses, and on ensuring a smooth transition to an internationally-recognized license regime in Thailand through collaboration with regulators and industry members. Prior to his current role at dtac, he served as CEO of Telenor Pakistan, where his role was crucial in transitioning the company from a greenfield start-up to a profitable venture in a highly competitive industry environment, including leading the launch of the internationally-acclaimed "easypaisa" suite of mobile financial services. Before joining Telenor, Jon was CEO of Maxis Communications, the largest mobile operator in Malaysia. From 2002-2007, he was Chief Technology Officer of DiGi Telecom, where he was responsible for integrating the IT and technical organizations and refreshing the network through system upgrades . From 1999 -2002, Jon served as Chief Technology Officer of Cesky Mobil in the Czech Republic, presiding over its engineering, implementation and operations functions and playing a key role in enabling the company to grow from new market entrant in 2000 to over 1.1m subscribers and over 14% market share by late 2002.
He holds a BSC in Electrical Engineering from Montana State University and is married with two children.
