ACCOMMODATION
With a population of some 300,000 people in the
canton and city of Geneva, it is not difficult to appreciate the problems the region
experiences in accommodating the thousands of visitors that descend on it for the World TELECOM every four years (154,671
at Telecom 95). While Geneva has many assets (including security, neutrality and the seat
of the headquarters of the ITU), the local authorities accept that accommodation in the
host city represents a problem.
In recognition of this problem, the Geneva
authorities in agreement with the Société des Hôteliers de Genève have
ensured that 85% of the hotel capacity of Geneva and the surrounding regions (neighboring
France, Vaud, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Valais) will be reserved exclusively for T ELECOM 99 + INTERACTIVE 99.
While Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has been
appointed as the official travel agent for TELECOM 99 + INTERACTIVE 99, exhibitors may arrange accommodation through any agency they
choose or may establish direct contact with hotels in the region. However, we recommend
exhibitors and visitors to contact the appointed Official Agency. The possibility of
renting private accommodation should also be discussed with CWT. Contact: |

Hotel Bank
For any last minute accommodation, the Geneva Tourist
Office will have "accommodation banks" on their stand at the main entrance to PALEXPO and at the entrance to
Hall 7, whereby any previously reserved but no longer required hotel rooms apartments are
"released" and made available to the public. |
