  • 2nd Facilitation Meeting for WSIS Action Line C5: Building Confidence and Security in the Use of ICTs
    Geneva, Switzerland, 14-15 May 2007
    The purpose of the 2nd Facilitation Meeting for WSIS Action Line C5: Building Confidence and Security in the Use of ICTs is to further discuss the WSIS multi-stakeholder implementation process for WSIS Action Line C5.

  • Meeting on Mechanisms for Cooperation on Cybersecurity and Combating Spam
    Geneva, Switzerland, 31 August-1 September 2006
    To address the needs of many countries that do not yet have appropriate mechanisms for cooperation in cybersecurity, WTDC-06 adopted Resolution 45 as a means for interested countries to have the possibility to discuss options for enhancing cooperation on cybersecurity including combating spam. This meeting does not aim to discuss the substantive aspects of cybersecurity and spam but based on contributions from ITU Member States and Sector Members, it aims at meeting the following three main goals: Arrive at a common understanding and possibly an agreement in the domains of cybersecurity and spam where it is imperative that a mechanism be put in place for enhanced cooperation amongst Member States; Identify possible mechanisms, inter alia a memorandum of understanding amongst, interested Member States to enhance cooperation on cybersecurity including spam; Make proposals based on contributions from membership in the form of a report to be submitted to the 2006 Plenipotentiary Conference for consideration.

  • Meeting for WSIS Action Line C5: Building Confidence and Security in the Use of ICTs
    Geneva, Switzerland, 15-16 May 2006
    In line with paragraph 108 and the Annex of the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society, the ITU invited all WSIS stakeholders interested and involved in the implementation process for building confidence and security in the use of ICTs, to a consultation meeting at ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

  • New Horizons for Security Standardization
    Geneva, Switzerland, 3-4 October 2005
    The overall objectives of the workshop include helping to address information and communications security issues and promote increased cooperation between organizations engaged in security standardization work. Consideration is also given to the adoption and implementation of security standards.

  • Subregional Seminar on Cybersecurity for Information and Communication Networks
    Lima, Peru, 20-21 June 2005
    A seminar on "Cybersecurity for Information and Communication Networks" was organized by the ITU together with the Association of Telecommunication Enterprises of the Andean Community (ASETA), the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru (MTC) and the Peruvian National Institute for Telecommunication Research and Training (INICTEL). ITU presentation given at the event.

  • ITU/ EU (ENISA) Regional Seminar on Cybersecurity
    Riga, Latvia, 25-27 May 2005
    Within the framework of its mandate in the Istanbul Action Plan Programme 3, ITU and the Government of Latvia are organizing a regional seminar on Cyber Security for CIS, CEE and Baltic States. The seminar will provide a forum for Member States and Sector members from the region to discuss and exchange views on the main cyber security threats and challenges faced by countries in the region. Countries will have the opportunity to present national initiatives related to cybersecurity policies, strategies and legislation. 

  • ITU-T Cybersecurity Symposium II 
    Moscow, Russian Federation, 29 March 2005
    ITU-T Cybersecurity Symposium II was held on the first day of the Russian Association for Networks and Services (RANS) Conference - Security and Trust for Info-communication Networks Deployment. The main objective of the symposium was to highlight the importance of cybersecurity as an essential part of information and communication technologies (ICT). Discussion focused on international cooperation, which is increasingly becoming the decisive issue in coordinating the efforts of state institutions and business for the harmonized development of normative, legal, technological and organizational aspects of an effective cybersecurity infrastructure. A review of the necessary standards development was also conducted.

  • ITU-T Cybersecurity Symposium I
    Florianópolis, Brazil, 4 October 2004
    The ITU-T Cybersecurity Symposium, held the day before ITU's annual World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-04) aimed to cover some of the most important issues facing network operators, enterprises, governments and individuals today and to explain how ITU-T can help to make the cyberworld a safer place. The symposium brought together senior managers from administrations, computer emergency response teams (CERTs), network operators and equipment manufacturers to discuss the current state of cybersecurity, and consider future approaches to ensure security in cyberspace.

  • ITU WSIS Thematic Meeting on Countering Spam
    Geneva, Switzerland, 7 to 9 July 2004
    The ITU WSIS Thematic Meeting on Countering Spam was organized in the framework of the implementation of the WSIS Declaration of Principles and Action Plan adopted on 12 December 2003,1 at the first phase of the World Summit on the Information Society and in preparation for the Tunis phase of the WSIS, to be held November 16-18, 2005.

  • ITU-T Workshop on Security
    Seoul, Republic of Korea, 13-14 May 2002
    Discussions on network security issues and possible technical solutions.

  • Creating Trust in Critical Network Infrastructures  
    Seoul, Republic of Korea, 20-22 May 2002
    The ITU Critical Network Infrastructure workshop held in 2002 looked at the policy and regulatory implications of network infrastructures and on possible areas for international cooperation.

  • World Telecommunication Development Conference (2002)
    Istanbul, Turkey, 18-27 March 2002
    A result of WTDC 2002 is that cybersecurity is one of the six priority domains in the WTDC 2002 IsAP Programme 3.

  • ITU Study Group 17 (for security, languages and telecommunication software) activities on cybersecurity.
