Completion is expected in December 2008. While the GCA will be housed at the IMPACT Centre, ITU will maintain a ‘virtual showcase’ in Geneva of the early warning system, crisis management and real-time analysis of global cyber-threats. All IMPACT-based initiatives – such as the GRC, training and skills development, security assurance, research, and international cooperation programs – will expand and evolve over time to increasingly provide services in the five pillars of ITU’s Global Cybersecurity Agenda.

20 March 2009: ITU's Global Cybersecurity Agenda housed in new centre in Malaysia

Geneva, 20 March 2009 - The global headquarters of the International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT) was inaugurated today in Cyberjaya on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The new IMPACT facilities will host ITU's Global Cybersecurity Agenda (GCA), which is an international framework for cooperation aimed at finding strategic solutions to boost confidence and security in an increasingly networked information society.

The new IMPACT headquarters was inaugurated by Malaysia's Prime Minister Dato' Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi, who is also Chairman of IMPACT's International Advisory Board, and ITU Secretary-General Dr Hamadoun Touré.

3 September 2008: IMPACT to Host Daily Operations of ITU's GCA

Photo1: Signature The The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber-Threats (IMPACT) formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in which IMPACT’s new state-of-the-art global headquarters in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, will effectively become the physical home of the GCA. This landmark collaboration will provide ITU’s 191 Member States with the expertise, facilities and resources to effectively address the world’s most serious cyber-threats. The close synergies between the five work areas of the GCA and the services and infrastructure provided by IMPACT made a joint-partnership a logical step in the global fight against cyberthreats, cybercrime and other misuses of ICTs. ITU has significant experience in national capacity-building in cybersecurity and information infrastructure protection and can draw on an extensive network of leading cybersecurity authorities.

20 - 23 March 2009 – Inaugural IMPACT World Cyber Security Summit (WCSS) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The WCSS included the inaugural meeting of the IMPACT International Advisory Board (IAB), a ministerial roundtable, plenary sessions as well as technology and information sharing sessions for in-depth discussions on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends and issues. IMPACT’s inaugural WCSS was the largest ministerial-level forum ever organised on cyber-terrorism and security. Government ministers, industry leaders, technology luminaries and international cybersecurity experts from 27 countries were in attendance. The goal of the Summit was to chart the future course for IMPACT as a global multilateral platform facilitating the partnership between governments and the private sector in combating cyberthreats. More information about the WCSS (programme and speakers) can be found on the IMPACT website.
