Ahmed Nazif is an expert in Information Technology and Software Engineering with a professional experience of over 28 years in academic, public and private establishments. He was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1952. He is married and has 2 sons.
During his professional career he was a Professor of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University
Dr. Nazif obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, and his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from McGill University, Canada.
His achievements include leading the implementation of one of the largest information systems projects in the region, the national number project (Civil Information Systems for Egypt). He has also managed the implementation of a large number of IT projects in Egypt and the Middle East. He held the position of Executive Manager of IDSC for six years (89-95) and has helped it to grow into one of the leading IT organizations in the world. He has worked as a consultant to numerous Egyptian and international organizations in the field of Information Technology. Dr. Nazif is a founding member of a number of private sector Egyptian companies in the field of Information Technology.
In October 99, he was selected by his Excellency, President Mubarak to serve as Communications and Information Technology Minister in the Cabinet formed by Dr. Atef Ebeid. Dr. Ahmed Nazif holds the First Order Medal of Science and Art.
