Presentation of results of ITU report:

Investing in Telecommunications and ICTs in Developing Markets:  Shifting the Paradigm

Potential telecommunications and ICT investors are presented with opportunities in developing countries that are expanding at double and even triple digit annual growth rates.  In 2002 alone, USD 600 billion in investment opportunities existed in low-income countries just to bring those countries up to targeted teledensity levels.  These opportunities however, must be balanced with the risk factors companies must face.  This presentation will recap a report released by the ITU at the WSIS that analyzes the opportunities and risk factors confronting potential investors.  The presentation will also discuss ways that governments, investors and the ITU can mitigate the risk to further stimulate investment in developing markets.

Schedule: Repeated presentations on Wednesday, 10 October 13:30 – 15:00 (Cervin) and Thursday, 11 October 13:00 – 14:00 (Room H, Hall 2)
