End of Opening Ceremony

18:45 The host country's Welcome Reception will be held in the Grand Foyer of the Hong Kong Convention Centre. We have been asked by the hosts to request that all cameramen and photographers stay within the press area at the reception for the comfort of the guests. Journalists wishing to join the reception should leave their equipment in the press area.

Technical Specifications:

  • Press stands will be set up at both sides of the stage (side on view) and at the back of the auditorium (approximately 70 meters from the stage). Telelenses are recommended. Please enter Hall 3 and select the most suitable position for your viewing. NB: Visual media from the rear of the hall will be permitted to exit along with other guests; those in the front will be permitted to leave their enclosure only after all guests have departed, which could lead to delays for arrival at the Welcome Reception.
  • Each press stand will be equipped with XLR mult-boxes for the floor, English, Mandarin and Cantonese audio feeds.
  • Until 16:30, lighting in Hall 3 will be set as it will be during the speeches so proper tests can be done by each individual photographer and cameraman. A test audio signal will continue until 17:15 for recording tests.
  • Only official ITU photographers and cameramen will be authorized to roam during the ceremony. There will be a live broadcast quality feed of the proceedings that will be available from the Media Centre at Asia World Expo. This will begin at 17:29 and from that point all Opening Ceremony content will be available for international broadcast.
  • Voice over announcements made during the ceremony will be in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
