ITU is convening the Regional Radiocommunication Conference (RRC-04) to address the
technical basis for the planning of the digital radio and television terrestrial broadcasting service
in the frequency bands 174-230 MHz and 470-862 MHz for parts of Region 1 (Europe and
Africa) and Region 3 (Asia and Australasia). This is the first ITU conference of
its kind in fifteen years to deal with the planning of a terrestrial
radiocommunication service.
The mission of the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) is to ensure that all countries get equitable
access to the radio-frequency spectrum. This is achieved through World and
Regional radiocommunication conferences. At ITU, the ITU Radiocommunication
Sector (ITU-R) endorses this mission. The Regional Radiocommunication Conference (RRC-04) will be convened
from 10-28 May 2004.
