Programme for Internet and Broadband Access Development in Areas of Special State Concern, in Highland Areas and on Islands
Description *
The ubiquitous broadband is an imperative for economic development and an important factor for ensuring more efficient healthcare, education, science, culture. Development of Croatia in general requires development all of its regions. In order to contribute to broadband development and digitalization of society, Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries, HAKOM, prepared and launched in 2011. an aids programme „Programme for Internet and Broadband Access Development in Areas of Special State Concern, in Highland Areas and on Islands“. Programme objectives is primarily based on long-term public interests and interests of the electronic communications sector: balanced regional development, support development of mentioned areas, inclusion of population into information society, implementation of IT infrastructure and applications for supporting public services with the goal of bringing them closer to citizens.
Overall goal of Programme is planned to be achieved through three subprojects: a) construction of new infrastructure for broadband access (support), b) development of appropriate applications and services and c) provision of adequate computer equipment. Targeted group of entities in the scope of Programme are schools, health institutions, and public institutions.
