Information about the project
Project title *
Rainforest Connection
Description *
Rainforest Connection transform used cell phones by attaching highly sensitive microphones and solar panels to become guardians of the forests. These guardians are placed high in the tree-tops throughout the rainforests of the world and transmit all sounds to a cloud-based artificial intelligence. The AI, Gaia, is trained to detect many sounds from chainsaws to birds and to weigh the evidence to determine the possible threats to forest and wildlife. When the RFCx system detects poaching or illegal logging, it sends real-time alerts to rangers who can stop the illegal activity. As the capabilities of RFCx has expanded, new applications are continuously added.
