School Libraries Outreach Program
SLOP
Slop is an outreach service which aims at providing information material, establishing satellite libraries, training and use of technology. The target groups are children both in rural and urban setups. The core objective is to promote positive and lifelong reading culture among children and communities members in Western Kenya. However, the program experiences some challenges, but the library has put in measures to mitigate and help the program to continue. The program will encourage spread of libraries at local level and will be replicated in other branches and communities in Kenya. This program will eventually be adopted by the government.
