Blood Grouping & Information Sharing Project ‘Virtual Blood Data Bank’
GramBlood DataBank
Maternal deaths can be reduced, if a pregnant mother can have her blood-groupknown and find a blood donor immediately. Over 70% of the female villagers in Bangladesh do not know their blood types. We cannot store blood due to the lack of storing facility, but we can store donor contact details. This “virtual blood bank” can be accessed at anytime by phone or Internet to find the nearest donor. We reached 22 organizations and populated 3500 records during the pilot phase. This year, we envision to reach 20,000 people by collaborating with organizations in home and abroad by using our proposed business model.
National implementation: Bangladesh
Ongoing from 01/04/2012 to 01/04/2015
