Information about the project
Digital Switchover
The TRA is following the vision of making the UAE a digital society aligned with WSIS mandate C2: “information and communication infrastructure”. The TRA has made the UAE one of the first countries in the Middle East to set a deadline for the digital TV switchover and analogue TV switch off by December 2013. The TRA has prepared a detailed plan and it is available on the TRA website. The plan provides general guidelines and a time frame for the digital TV switchover process, aimed at maximizing the benefits of the switchover and to have a smooth and seamless transition to digital TV. This switchover to digital TV will provide valuable benefits to the UAE society. In addition to residents getting better picture and sound quality and enhanced multimedia transmission, it will also offer high spectrum efficiency.
