E-business and E-agriculture joint session at WSIS Forum in May 2010
UNCTAD, FAO and ITC organized a joint session on Action Line C7: E-Business and E-Agriculture. The interactive debate focused on how ICTs can enable rural enterprises to become vehicles of poverty reduction and sustainable rural development. It also addressed how international organizations, the private sector and civil society can contribute, and how government policies can become more effective in creating an enabling environment. Partnerships can contribute to promote the sustainable use of ICTs in rural enterprises, including by helping to reduce transaction costs and improving decision-making in rural value chains. By joining forces, it was possible to bring two constituencies (e-business and e-agriculture) together.
