ICT Policy Consultation Program
Description *
KISDI is implementing the ICT Cooperation towards Co-prosperity program with the aim to promote and ensure digital opportunity in many developing countries. As part of the ICT Cooperation Programs, IT personnel around the world have been invited to Korea to receive education and training and the Internet Volunteers and on-site consultants have been dispatched to many parts of the world. In addition, Information Access Centers and ICT cooperation centers have been set up to facilitate easier access to information and provide ICT education in an effective way. Moreover, ICT Policy Consultation have been conducted to disseminate Korea's experience and know-how in achieving development in telecommunications sector. - Consultation on Interconnection Policy of Lao PDR: Based on the analysis of current status and practices of interconnection in Lao PDR, policy strategies for effective interconnection regulation were provided. Given expected problems, interconnection regulatory model as well as interconnection fee calculation method and standard were discussed in detail. - Consultation on Radio Spectrum Management Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Through revision of current activities and related laws of Kazakhstan, policy recommendations were made on spectrum management, taking into consideration Korea's experience as well as world-wide trends in spectrum management. Policy recommendations were made on major spectrum management issues. - Consultation on Telecommunications Policy of the Republic of South Africa: Methodology and purpose for assessing telecommunications markets were introduced to conduct market competition review of the mobile telecommunication market in the Republic of South Africa. Based on available data on market structure, behavior, and performance, policy recommendations were made for the mobile telecommunications market.
