Information about the project
ITU Partners to Connect the World and the Global Portal
Child Helpline International (CHI) is one of the founding members of the ITU project Connect the world, a global ITU-led multi-stakeholder effort to consolidate and scale up existing non-commercial development-oriented ICT projects and stimulate new development partnerships aimed at achieving the World Summit for the Information Society (WSIS) goal of connecting all communities by 2015. CHI’s initiative in Connect the World is to develop a global portal that is accessible to every child who has access to a computer. This portal will be child-friendly and safe. For the child it will be a gateway to the child helpline in their city, district or country, linking children to helpline services. In this way, CHI hopes to reach out to those children and youth who would not choose, for what ever reason, to use the telephone yet are in need of some kind of assistance.
