Africa Civil Society Forum
The Forum had the following objectives/outputs: A: Capacity Building/Training B: Issue Statements & Strategies for effective civil society inputs C: Organizational & Structural Issues The issues included:  An overview of civil society engagement in national, regional and international policy making o National (e-strategies, NICI, national ICT policy) – Mr. Thierry Amoussougbo, Regional Advisor, ECA o Global Telecommunications view – Bruno Salgues, Professor of Telecommunications, The National Institute of Telecommunications, France o Different types of ICT policy and the processes that shape them at national, regional and Global levels:  Global (WSIS, WTO, WIPO, ITU, etc.) – Willie Currie, Policy Expert, The Association for Progressive Communications (APC)  Regional (SADC, COMESA, ECOWAS, Nepad etc.) – Mr. Emmanuel Njenga, Africa ICT Chief, APC  Grassroots, Mr Chukwudozie Ezigbalike, Team Leader, Geo Information Systems (GIS) DISD, ECA  Influencing policy: overview of a range of options (advocacy, lobbying, awareness raising, training etc.) o Two country case studies (Guinea, DRC)
