Project title *
Regional Follow-up to the First Phase and Preparation for the Second Phase of the WSIS
Description *
The WSIS follow-up and preparatory activities organized by the UNESCAP focus on the regional and national implementation of the outcomes of Geneva Phase, the exchange of information at the regional level on Internet governance and financial mechanisms for ICT for development to, as well as the formulation of the Regional Action Plan towards Information Society in Asia and the Pacific. The First Regional Conference on this subject was held on 11-13 October 2004, and the Second Regional Conference is planned for mid-2005. Additionally, the UNESCAP is organizing sub-regional conferences in Central Asia, Pacific, South and South-West Asia and South-East and North-East Asia, aiming at reflecting different sub-regional perspectives and needs.
