Information about the project
Information and Communication for Development in Support of Rural Livelihoods
Empowerment and access to information enable rural communities in developing countries to make successful decisions on their livelihood strategies. In order to facilitate the attainment of this goal, FAO has collaborated on studies with the Overseas Development Institute and DFID to develop a framework of working practices on ways in which information and communication can enhance rural livelihoods. In addition, FAO is working with DFID and the World Bank on a programme to develop, test and learn more about approaches to information and communication for rural development, and to use the evidence to promote policies and practices for wider adoption.
