Information about the project
Project Sushiksha-A value-based functional literacy year-long course for Adult Women and Men from the poverty /vulnerable to criminal activities sections of the Society, with exposure to all religious books and Authorized priests on International Day for Tolerance.
Project Sushiksha,is a functional literacy program for the illiterate section of the Society who fall easy prey to the allurements of the crime mongers against money .As illiteracy is coupled with vulnerability the program is inclusive of local spiritual practices so as to infuse mental strength to fight back allurements and seize resources righteously for enhancing material development and improving the mental power to establish ethical life style in their family life. Our success stories are in our 2 target groups – Slum Dwellers of Tollygunj and rural women of Bhitaragarh village----refer to our web-link :www.iisd-ngo.org True education at the Primary level should have a flavour of Spirituality so that irrespective of Age ,Cast and Creed The personalities develop into moral icons and develop the taste to be more beneficial to society and uses resources very judiciously and thus help themselves to become self reliant rather than dependent and selfish ,greedy beings.Project Sushiksha also gives the opportunity to its students and other members of the Society to hear the original version and the translation as it is of Holy Books of different religions from true followers of these various Faiths. Our students matures to distinguish how by misinterpreting Faiths which speak of Peace some power-mongers use it as a tool to fulfil his or her desire to gain material opulence. Our project Sushiksha thus achieves the reading, writing and Arithmetics needed to the level of being operational for the ones who need it and at the same time transforms or infuses in the students high standards of Ethics and Morality in conduct to distinguish oneself from the other species whom we regard to be wild animals.
International implementation
Ongoing from 1996 to
Local Youth Clubs who provide the Venue for the Schools. We would welcome any Partner who would like to be part of this successful venture without hidden agenda of domination in course of such partnership by way of financial contribution or any other type of resource contribution. We could also share the concept with other bodies with relevant changes so that ethics and values are understood by the students by examples which exist in that part of the world.
