"Services @ Citizens' Doorsteps"

Description

Opaqueness in service delivery increases the scope for rent-seeking behavior, adversely impacting the poor’s ability to access information and services pertaining to their livelihood. Access to Information (A2I), a programme being implemented by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Bangladesh with technical assistance from UNDP and USAID, primarily focuses on:

a) making government services responsive to the citizenry’s needs; and,
b) taking public and private services “at the citizens’ door-steps.”

A2I is leveraging the flexibility and ubiquity of indigenous information and communication technologies (ICTs) in quickly upscaling various small prototypes, which are instilling an innovation culture in the Bangladesh civil service.
