WSIS Forum 2023 Hackathon - Digital GovHack

Advancing the Digital Economy by Leveraging Emerging Technologies

WSIS Forum 2023 Hackathon — Digital GovHack

Technology has revolutionized our world and changed our daily lives where everything is connected and accessible. Emerging technologies are now also reshaping the government and public services of tomorrow making a shift in the way governments around the world are embracing their mission. By integrating these emerging technologies, we are highlighting “GovTech”, a whole-of-government approach to public sector modernization. GovTech emphasizes three aspects of public sector modernization: citizen-centric public services that are universally accessible, a whole-of-government approach to digital government transformation, and simple, efficient, and transparent government systems. The use of new solutions to modernize the public sector could be an excellent way to realize the promises of the information era and advance digital economies globally by leveraging emerging technologies.

The Digital Government Authority (DGA) and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2023, in collaboration with other stakeholders, are organizing a Global Hackathon to reach the larger innovation community and champions in an attempt to contribute to building the GovTech of tomorrow and help ensure a better future for us, all in line with the WSIS Action Lines and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

WSIS&SDG TalkX - World Cities Day

World Cities Day is celebrated each year on 31 October, with a global observance held in a different city each year. This year’s global observance is planned to take place on 31 October 2022 under the theme Act Local to Go Global, with the aim to bring different partners and diverse stakeholders together to share their experiences and approaches to local action, what local action worked and what is needed to empower local and regional governments to create greener, more equitable and sustainable cities.

To celebrate the World Cities Day 2022 and as part of the WSIS&SDG TalkX series, ITU and Geneva Cities Hub in cooperation with UN-Habitat are organizing a webinar dedicated to supporting cities to use digital transformation to improve adaptation actions to the looming climate and water challenge in urban settlements. The objective of this webinar is to raise awareness on the significant role that digital transformation can play for enhancing climate and water adaptation actions and urban resilience. The webinar will look at specific use cases of how digital technologies are helping cities to become more climate resilient and to implement ambitious water management targets.
