Data is the currency of smart digital transformation: from sensors in billions of interconnected objects in the IoT to the connected car, e-health solutions, government services and social media, every aspect of our smart future will rely on data. Big data hasalready generated big headaches in terms of the cross-country and in-country flow of data, personal privacy and individual and national security. As the smart transformation continues, the amount of data generated will increase exponentially. How can users be surethat future connected devices will work for them, not against them? Could lack of trust and security become a major obstacle in accelerating the digital economy? How can government develop policy and regulatory frameworks to drive the digitalization of everyday life across a range of key vertical sectors? How could policy pathways and initiatives in areas such as public funding, data security, digital literacy, education and awareness increase the uptake of digital technologies?
