Shrimant Tripathy is the Head of IT Risk and Security Advisory at The World Bank Group. As part of the Office of Information Security (OIS), he leads key cybersecurity risk management functions such as Security Architecture, Application Security and IT Risk Management – managing security and risk within the adoption of new and emerging technologies including Cloud, Mobile and Financial Services for the Bank Group. One of the missions of the Bank Group is to end extreme poverty by helping improve the lives of the poor and vulnerable. This can be achieved by leveraging the power of emerging technologies to deliver cost effective and innovative development solutions, improving results on the ground. Aligned with these goals, Mr. Tripathy spearheads the Bank Group’s cybersecurity risk management efforts towards emerging technologies – raising awareness among key stakeholders and helping prepare adequate response plans commensurate with the institutional risk appetite.
Since joining the Bank in 2000, Mr. Tripathy has had several experiences of supporting large-scale ICT projects, especially in Latin America and Africa region. From 2007 to 2010, he was involved in providing cybersecurity advisory services to multi-year e-Government projects in Argentina and Chile. He has alsoplayed an advisory role on a number of technical assistance projects for Central Banks, including Libya and Uganda. Currently, he is helping develop a Cybersecurity Diagnostic Toolkit to conduct current-state posture assessments within small and medium sized banks.
Before his appointment to the Office of Information Security, Mr. Tripathy was an Information Security Officer within theTreasury Vice-Presidency at the Bank. While in Treasury, Mr. Tripathy managed a number of information security initiatives for a diverse set of clients seeking compliance with leading practices well-recognized within the financial services industry.
