Ms. Eleanor Sarpong
Eleanor is A4AI’s Deputy Director & Policy lead. She directs policy and has oversight on country engagements in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
She has a rich diverse industry experience working in the ICT and public policy space in private, public and not-for-profit sectors across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. (EMEA)
Prior to joining A4AI, she consulted for the European Investment Bank (EIB), advising on its policy on ICT lending to developing countries and as well as for the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), where she advised on ICT, corporate social responsibility and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
She’s led engagements with governments on issues of taxation on telecommunication services, rights of way, arbitrary regulations on the ICT sector and has led the development of national broadband policies.
Eleanor is passionate about connectivity, gender and development, and currently advocates for universal broadband access, removal of barriers to connectivity and affordability and has written about 5G, Universal Access, taxation, Infrastructure sharing and digital inclusion aimed particularly at advancing women in developing regions.
She is a member of the Harvard Kennedy’s School's Implementing Public Policy (IPP) Community of practice and holds an MBA from the University of Warwick, UK.
