Biography

Dr. Solymár is the Deputy State Secretary for Infocommunication at the Ministry for Innovation and Technology since 2018. Beforethat, he worked at the Ministry of National Development as Deputy State Secretary for Infocommunication (2014-2018) and as Head of Department of ICT Regulation and Organization (2010-2013).

He also worked in the Prime Minister's Office as Deputy Head of the Department of Infocommunication (2008-2010), in the Ministry of Economy and Transport, as Deputy Head of the Department of Infocommunication and e-Economy (2006-2008), and in the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication, as Deputy Head of the Department of Regulation (2003-2006). Dr. Solymár has studied at Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Law (summa cum laude) and was enrolled at the ELTE Bibó István College for Advanced Studies.

Mr. Károly Balázs Solymár serves as Deputy State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of National Development since 2013, but even before, he has been working in public administration for more than a decade in the field of ICT, since he finalised his legal studies (summa cum laude) at the famous Hungarian university, ELTE.

His current portfolio covers such important topics in the field of ICT like improving the digital economy and the state of information society, electronic communications infrastructure development, managing industrial policy.

His main successes as a Deputy State Secretary include establishment of regulation environment for electronic toll, acquisition management of Antenna Hungária Ltd., regulation of networks for governmental purposes, creation of the legal construction of the National Telecommunications Backbone Network, establishment of a centralised governmental operation’s legal construction, creation of the national environment of electronic invoicing and e-commerce, establishment of regulation environment for national mobile payment.
