Samia Melhem is the Global Lead for the Digital Development Community of Practice. Her operational responsibilities include investment operations in digital platforms & services as well as thought leadership on digital development. She has recently contributed to the Digital Development Partnership (DDP) setup, and is now leading the DDP’s Digital government analytical work. She has led several digital government transformational projects in Rwanda, Egypt, Philippines, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Vietnam, Morocco, all leveraging disruptive technologies to improve access to, and delivery of, public services. She is currently focusing on a digitalidentification projects for regional integration and digital economy in Africa. In her previous assignments at the WBG, she has coordinated the Africa and Middle East digital development portfolio under the Sustainable development network. She was a Senior Operations Officer at Infodev, leading the Telecoms Regulations analytical work program, policy dialogue with regulators as well as donors’ relations and fund-raising. She led delivery of knowledge toolkits on Digital government, electronic procurement, cloud computing, entrepreneurship & innovation, Telecoms Policy and gender inclusion. She holds degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, and Finance.
