Dr. Jacques Bughin
Jacques is a senior partner of McKinsey & Company and one of the three directors of the McKinsey Global Institute, the firm’s business and economics research arm.
He is also a leader in McKinsey’s Telecom, Media and Technology Practice, and in the Strategy & Corporate Finance Practice, and co-leads work on digital and AI strategy in McKinsey’s Digital and Analytics (DnA) practice.
Since joining the firm in 1992, he has worked with businesses across continents and sectors including media, telecom, online services, health care, fintech, and logistics on issues ranging from marketing and sales, and digital strategy and productivity, to organization.
He also works with public-sector institutions on a variety of technology challenges.
Jacques has led numerous research efforts on global economic trends such as globalization, productivity and inclusive growth, as well as on the impact, opportunities, and challenges of technology including big data, the future of work and skills, AI technology, and digital strategies.
He has authored articles published in titles including the McKinsey Quarterly, Harvard Business Review, and Sloan Management Review.
His fundamental research on industrial economics, organization, the digitization of firms, and corporatefinance has featured in top tier academic journals such as Management Science, Research Policy, Omega, and Journal of Industrial Economics.
He is quoted regularly in leading international media.
Jacques is a frequent speaker at conferences and universities around the world on a range of economic and technology themes.
He is a fellow of the Aspen Institute, ECORE, and KUL University.
He teaches business strategy at the Free University of Brussels, and serves on non-profit boards including thatof Kanal, the Brussels contemporary art museum.

Jacques is a frequent speaker at conferences and universities worldwide on
a rangeof economic and technology trends. He is a fellow at the Aspen
Institute, ECORE, a think tank on economic policy in Belgium, and at KUL
