Global Telecommunications Industry Leader for the IBM Institute for Business Value


Rob is the IBM Global Telecom Industry Leader / VP at IBM’s Institute for Business Value. He leads strategic thought leadership in telecommunications and is a contributor to IBM's global telecom strategy. He develops future agenda's, industry outlooks and business value realization studies. He has over 25 years of experience in the telecom industry and has worked in a range of advisory and implementation roles for major telecommunications, media and government organizations, including the European Commission

Rob graduated at the Delft University in (with honors) and got a Phd. He started his career at the National Aerospace Industry. Prior to joining IBM he worked for Data Sciences where he was Senior Principal and one of the founders of Data Sciences' telecommunications practice.

Expertise areas include digital transformation, future industry scenarios, Internet of Things, big data & cognitive and privacy & security. Rob periodically presents at major industry conferences such as GSMA Mobile Asia, TMForum Live, CommunicAsia, Digiworld summit, World Telecoms Council, and the Wireless Global Congress. He has published multiple articles in, amongst others, the Annual Review of Communications, Jnl of Telecommunications Management, European Communications, Total TelecomMagazine, Broadcast Engineering, Telecom Asia, Mobile Europe, and Wireless Asia.
