Biography

H.E. Jailani Johari is the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia. He was appointed to the Malaysian Cabinet on 15 May 2013 and was put in charge of the development of Malaysia’s Communication & Multimedia industry.

Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Minister, H.E. Jailani Johari served the government in various ministries and capacities. He was attached to the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for 14 years, charting new directions for the national communications & multimedia industry. His last position in the Commission was Chief Regulatory and Supervision Officer, Industry Regulation and Supervision.

In the international arena, H.E. Jailani Johari has been actively involved in many conferences suchas the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the ASEAN TELMIN and TELSOM and APEC TEL to name a few. H.E. Jailani Johari was especially active in the Universal Postal Union (UPU). During His tenure at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission(MCMC), he was appointed as the Head of Delegation for the Malaysian delegation at the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress in Doha in 2012, in Berns 2015 and Istanbul in 2016.

H.E. Jailani Johari holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Among the honours conferred upon H.E. Jailani Johari are the Darjah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (The Most Distinguished Order of Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin) and Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (Knight Companion and the The Esteemed Order of the Crown of Pahang - Knight Companion).

He is a Member of Parliament for Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia.

Dato’ Jailani Johari is the Deputy Minister of Communications & Multimedia Malaysia. He was selected into the Malaysian Cabinet ofMinisters and Deputy Ministers lineup on 15 May 2013 and put in-charge of the development of Malaysia’s Communications & Multimedia industry. Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Minister, Dato’ Jailani had served the government in various ministries and capacities. In the last 14 years, Dato’ Jailani was attached to the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission, charting the new direction of the national communications & multimedia industry under the Communications & Multimedia Act set up in 1998. His last position in the Commission was Chief Officer for Regulatory & Supervision. In the international arena, Dato’ Jailani has actively involved in many conferences by key organizations such as International Telecommunications Union (ITU), ASEAN TELMIN/TELSOM andAPEC TEL to name a few. Dato’ Jailani holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Malaya University, Kuala Lumpur. Among the honours conferred upon Dato’ Jailani are Darjah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (DSMZ) & Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP). He is a Member of Parliament for Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu.
