| Description | The World Telecommunication Development Conference 2017 stipulated as a priority area of work for ITU to foster affordable access to international telecommunications/ICT infrastructure, particularly in developing countries. The overall aim of this project is therefore to create mechanisms that can bring together stakeholders to help foster affordable access to the digital world and identify the appropriate policy, regulatory, technical and commercial measures to achieve affordable access to international bandwidth through open, fair and equitable access to international fiber optic communications infrastructure. This could accomplished by providing a platform to strengthen cooperation at the global level, bringing together fiber optic communication stakeholders, as well as policy makers and regulators to identify commercial, policy regulatory measures and solutions to address the main bottlenecks and promote open access to fiber optic communications and associated infrastructure. |
